Not many original Victorian locks were stamped with the makers name, most being mass produced in small back yard workshops in the West Midlands, in fact it was said that if a lock was dropped, it would be quicker to make a new one, rather than stop and pick it up! This high quality example was obviously considered special enough to warrant stamping (see picture of dead bolt end). It also has a retractable latch, and will accept the imperial standard 5/16" (8mm) spindle for any suitable door knobs. The wire bow key is original, as is the superior quality brass edged keep.
Please note that the original detector mechanism has been disabled for ease of use.
