Original reclaimed Victorian cast iron and brass door security chain.
Dating from the last quarter of the Victorian era, this is an immensely strong, attractive and practical piece of front door security. The body of the slide is of strong cast iron with polished yellow brass face plate, there are eight countersunk holes for fixing to the door. The chain has a decorative staple for attachment to the door frame with four countersunk fixing holes, the slider has a nicely detailed and highly unusual stylised Salmon to engage.
Slide measures 9.5/8 x 2.5/8 in. (245 x 60mm). Chain length 12 in. (300mm).
